Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, Hawa Mahal is one of the most important tourist spots in Jaipur. This five-storey building is also called the Palace of the Winds, due to the 953 windows. Its beautifully carved windows or Jharokhas were built for royal Rajput women to witness life in the city, outside the palace and to be part of the royal processions and important events.
